Raleigh, NC, November 4, 2024 – Peter William Robie, MD, a General Internist from Winston-Salem, NC, has been awarded Constellation Quality Health’s T. Reginald Harris, MD, Memorial Award in recognition for his outstanding achievements in the medical field and dedication to quality health care for underserved patients. The award, along with a $5,000 check donated to Dr. Robie’s chosen charity, Community Care Center, was announced November 2nd at the North Carolina Medical Society Golden Stethoscope Gala in Greensboro, NC.
Dr. Robie attends multiple medical facilities, including two urgent care centers, one family practice center, and volunteers his time caring for uninsured patients at the Community Care Center of Forsyth County. His colleagues describe him as a “strong advocate for the underserved, lending his voice in state and local policies to create systems-level change.” He is also admired for his “instinct to give back to patients who sometimes feel left behind.” As a missionary, he has provided medical services in Haiti and other countries in dire need
Dr. Robie serves on the boards for the State Health Plan and the Forsyth County Health and Human Services. His academic appointments include Associate Professor of Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist and, previously, Internist as Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine.
“Dr. Robie’s selfless dedication to helping people who are uninsured, who lack access to medical care, and who have no one to turn to for health care is admirable and demonstrative of the exceptional leadership in medicine that the Harris Award represents,” said Constellation Quality Health President and CEO Steven Martin. “I’m thrilled he is receiving this commemorative award in recognition of his years of leadership and dedication to quality health care.”
Established in 1999, the Harris Memorial Award honors the life and memory of one of its founding members, T. Reginald Harris, MD, for his decades of service to the medical community through the North Carolina Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and many other professional, civic, and community activities.
