What you’ll do:

The Technical Support Specialist assists healthcare facilities, community-based organizations (CBOs), and electronic health records (EHR) vendors connect platforms to developed software allowing for exchange of information. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring and maintaining the security of patient health information.

 

We expect you to:

  • Coordinate between EHR vendors, IT professionals, and internal software vendors facilitating and building connections for bidirectional feedback loops including ensuring that software updates are installed and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
  • Participate in project management development process.
  • Assist in training healthcare staff and community-based organizations (CBOs) in use and functionality of software once connections are established to facilitate bidirectional feedback.
  • Provide technical assistance to ensure successful project completion.
  • Respond to help desk tickets including, but not limited to technical assistance, training, troubleshooting, and additional solutions as needed.
  • Understand and support the vision of partners, funders, and program developers in their use and expansion of the software.
  • Participate in partner meetings, presentations, participant panels, and survey assessments to support goals, project designs, and development of funding opportunity responses.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory guidelines including, but not limited to HIPAA and patient privacy to ensure that patient information is kept confidential and secure.

 

This position requires occasional travel within South Carolina to partner and community organizations to provide technical assistance.

Who you are:

The successful candidate is able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other agencies, and the community. The Technical Support Specialist is customer service oriented and has the ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work well in team situations, meet deadlines, and work independently on a day today basis. Additionally, this role is comfortable explaining technical issues in non-technical terms to a variety of users in an array of community-based organizations, clinical settings, and among stakeholders.

Our requirements for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health information management or a related field; or equivalent years of experience and certifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of EHR systems experience across multiple systems; building secure connections preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations
  • Understanding of the healthcare delivery system and community-based organizations (CBOs) impacts to healthcare
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • High level of computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
